This was the first donation as part of the company’s $2 million multiyear commitment. Publix first donated to coral restoration efforts with NPF in 2022.

Due to the pandemic, the number of people turning to food banks for assistance increased and the need remains high. In addition to the company’s annual register campaigns for hunger alleviation and in-store perishable recovery program, in April of 2020 Publix began purchasing and donating fresh fruits and vegetables to Feeding America® member food banks. Through these combined efforts, Publix and its customers have helped meet the growing need in their communities.

Publix Super Markets Charities (PSMC) is committed to building stronger communities through a $3 million donation to housing and shelter programs. The donation will support 121 Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the Southeast, including funding for a total of six full houses at six affiliates. In addition, 104 nonprofit organizations providing housing and shelter services will also receive funding.

It is with great sadness that Publix Super Markets shares the passing of Carol Jenkins Barnett, former chair and president of Publix Super Markets Charities, and daughter of company founder, George W. Jenkins. She passed away late last evening in her home surrounded by her loving family. In 2016, she was diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
