Lineage Foundation for Good (“Lineage Foundation”) today announced the expansion of its ongoing support of the Community Café at Genesis The Church in Royal Oak to help provide reliable access to food amid disruptions to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits distribution. Beginning Monday, November 10, and continuing through the end of the year, Lineage Foundation will help provide hot, nutritious meals on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00–6:30 p.m.
Community Café is a long-standing, low-barrier, belly-filling and community-focused outreach of the Genesis community. Meal service occurs typically on the second and fourth Saturday of the month from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The Foundation’s expanded commitment to the program comes in direct response to the recent reductions and interruptions in SNAP benefits, affecting approximately 1.4 million individuals and families across Michigan. Many households already face heightened food insecurity and instability at the end of each month. The Community Café at Genesis provides reliable access to hot meals, nourishment, dignity, and connection — values deeply shared by Lineage Foundation.
“Our belief is simple: food is a human right. No one in our community should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from,” said Hannah Hoskins, Executive Director of Lineage Foundation for Good. “Community Café at Genesis has been a steady, compassionate gathering place for years. By expanding our support now, at a time when neighbors are experiencing real hardship, we are strengthening the line that holds our community together.”
“Sharing a meal is about more than nutrition — it is about belonging,” said Nathan Sjogren, Pastor at Genesis. “We are grateful to Lineage Foundation for recognizing both the dignity and the necessity of this work. Together, we are ensuring that our neighbors are seen, welcomed, and nourished.”

Food Insecurity is Widespread, Lineage Foundation Aims to Help
According to Feeding America, hunger affects 47 million people and exists in every county in the U.S. The rising cost of food and disruption of SNAP benefit distributions are recent examples of why individuals and families may face food insecurity.
Founded in 2021, the Lineage Foundation for Good was created to tackle growing hunger and food waste revealed during the pandemic. By combining Lineage’s global cold chain network, logistics expertise and customer partnerships, the Foundation became an independent public charity built to move safe, quality food where it’s needed most. The Foundation supports partners across the entire food ecosystem: farmers, food rescue groups, hunger-relief organizations and programs that treat food security as a key part of public health.
