Funds to support life-saving programs and services for Maui’s homeless pets
In the wake of the recent tragedy in Maui, Wag Hotels hosted a fundraiser on behalf of Maui Humane Society to aid rescue and reunification efforts. For every dog that attended daycare at Wag Hotels last Friday, August 18, Wag donated $10 to Maui Humane Society. The daycare-related donations totalled $8,690, which Wag Hotels then topped up for a total donation sum of $10,000.
The brave volunteers at Maui Humane Society have been working tirelessly to rescue pets displaced by the devastating wildfires and are working to reunite them with their families. Pet parents showed up in droves to support the people and pets of Maui by bringing their fur babies in for a day of socializing and for the greater good at doggie daycare.
“We believe in the power of unity and strength of community,” said Kristen Rau, who supervises care at Wag Hotels. “By directing a portion of our daycare revenues to Maui Humane Society, we are pleased to provide support and assistance to those who need it most. Pets bring so much joy and comfort to our lives; we wanted to extend that love to the broader community as well.”
Since its founding 18 years ago, Wag Hotels has demonstrated a firm commitment to helping animals in need. For example, Wag Hotels housed hundreds of pets in need of food and shelter when the Camp, August, and Glass wildfires ravaged California in 2020. Moreover, firefighters, police officers, and EMTs always receive a 40% discount on boarding and daycare at all 15 Wag Hotels locations.
Those looking to help Maui pets directly can donate on Maui Humane Society’s website.
