With more than a decade of experience in the civil engineering industry, Mr. Ramos has built a reputation for exceeding expectations and setting new standards. Before entering the world of engineering, Mr. Ramos pursued an education in the field. In 2013, he completed both a Bachelor of Science in land surveying and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. Since then, he has earned a range of key certifications, beginning with his 2023 certification as a professional engineer in civil water resources and environmental by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers, Florida Engineers Management Corporation, and most recently becoming certified as a Department of State professional engineer through the government of Puerto Rico in 2024.
From Survey Technician to Project Engineer
After graduating in 2013, Mr. Ramos joined DRMP Inc. as a survey technician before being appointed project engineer in 2017. After gaining valuable experience at this firm, he transitioned to work as a project engineer at Carnahan, Proctor and Cross Inc. He served in this role until 2023, when he found an opportunity to return to DRMP Inc. as a senior project engineer.
In his current role at DRMP Inc., Mr. Ramos leverages his expertise in civil engineering, stormwater management, utilities and roadway operations design. As a senior engineer, he is responsible for overseeing entire projects, including design and construction permits. Stormwater management is one essential aspect of the job, requiring consideration alongside many other project factors.
Leveraging Research and New Technologies
Mr. Ramos' stormwater analysis, surveying efforts and knowledge of regulations ensure that residential community systems run smoothly when a project is completed. As the industry develops, he is leveraging technologies such as LiDAR and geographic information systems to make better design decisions; in his opinion, these resources will become integral parts of his field.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ramos has remained passionate about what he does. In addition to the support of his wife and family, he attributes much of his success to his love for his work. He is actively invested in his research during an operation, always learning everything he can to create a clear path forward. While every journey is different, he is always working to take the next steps.
Civic and Membership Involvement
Outside of his professional career, Mr. Ramos has been involved in several civic and membership organizations. He served as the director of marketing and communications for the Puerto Rico College of Engineers and Land Surveyors from 2015 to 2017 and acts as a big brother with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida Inc. Additionally, he is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the National Fire Protection Association.
Ambition for the Future
Within the next one to two years, Mr. Ramos hopes to obtain his surveyor's license as a part of his commitment to expand his qualifications in the field. Furthermore, he aims to expand his knowledge of new techniques in civil engineering, supported by recent technological innovations. Regardless of what comes next, his dedicated passion for his career will continue to guide him forward.
